This guide was generated as a resource for Gender and Sexuality in Africa, a course cross listed in African Studies, Anthropology, and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. The course examines the diversity of gender and sexuality in sub-Saharan Africa. Topics covered include colonialism, feminism, sex workers, LGBT lives, sexual decision-making, dating, marriage, the African middle-class, and HIV/AIDS. Topics will include discussions of case studies drawn from selected countries and regions across the continent.
On Monday, February 1st students will meet Jessica Reuther, the African Studies Subject Specialist, and Jennifer Elder, the WGSS Librarian. Jessica and Jennifer will lead a course specific instruction session at Woodruff Library in room 314.
