Great Website for Identifying Statistics Sources!!

The Electronic Data Center has joined with other groups to form the Emory Center for Digital Scholarship (ECDS). Dr. Rob O'Reilly of the ECDS provides data support for the Emory community.  The excellent webpage, called Browse the Data Freeway, has links to many statistical information sources (many of which are also included in this guide).  The links are divided into categories such as "health", "education", etc...

These guys research EVERYTHING.  There may be a report on your topic! 

Statistical Abstract of the United States:2012

Published since 1878, the standard summary of statistics on the social, political, and economic organization of the United States.  Especially useful as a guide to other statistical publications and souces. 

American Factfinder

Census Bureau source for population, housing, economic and geographic data.

Provides easy access to statistics and information produced by more than 100 US federal government agencies.

United Nations Statistics Division

Economic, demographic, and social statistics from the United Nations.

Statistical Yearbook of the United Nations

Published since 1948, this compilation of international statistics from the United Nations covers population, social, and economic statistics. 

World Development Indicators

Data from the World Bank onworldwide economic and social development.

International Financial Statistics

The IFS is a standard source of statistics on various aspects of international and domestic finance.

LexisNexis Statistical

Online source of statistical information issued by U.S. Federal & State governments, selected private publications, and major international intergovernmental organizations. Includes data from American Statistics Index, Statistical Reference Index, & Index to International Statistics.

CQ Electronic Library

An excellent source for public policy, CQ Library includes:

  • CQ Weekly, authoritative, non-partisan information on Congressional activity including voting analysis and background reports.
  • CQ Researcher, a weekly that analyses current and controversial issues. 
  • CQ Supreme Court Collection contains court decisions, biographical information on justices, institutional history, and a feature that allows analysis and comparison of the voting records of a justice. 
  • CQ Congress Collection is an integrated Congressional database which includes numerous encyclopedic entries, legislative policy histories, statistics, chronologies, biographies, electoral data, voting records, and maps.
  • CQ Voting and Elections provides detailed information on elections at the national and state levels. 
  • CQ Public Affairs Collection contains a variety of source material organized by 22 key topics.
  • Encyclopedia of American Government provides information on Congress, the Presidency, the Supreme Court and U.S. elections.
