Tips for Faculty & Students

Documentaries & films are located on the 4th floor of the Woodruff Library in the Music & Media Library.

Faculty

  • Faculty can arrange for a student assistant or staff person to check out films for them. Call the Music & Media Library at 404-727-1777, request to speak with the supervisor on duty, and ask for a proxy form for media items.
  • Faculty can request additional titles to be purchased for the collection. Contact your subject librarian.

Students

  • Student privileges vary; some DVD's can be checked-out for 3-days whereas other films must remain in the library.

Campus Film Festivals

  • For policies and booking a film for a campus public viewing or film festival, email the Music & Media Library or call (404) 727-1777 to determine if your film has the required public performance permissions.

Can We Watch Online?

Yes, we do have online documentaries. You can explore Kanopy for more or you can request a purchase.

Faculty can use the streaming video as homework assignments for students. Streaming video is best used outside of the classroom.

Streaming video can NOT be used for public film showings. If you are planning a film series, please contact your librarian about purchasing a DVD with public performance rights.

The library is prohibited from using personal subscription services, such as Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, and Amazon.
