Documentaries available for classes, Emory clubs, and personal viewing.

Suggested Films for Student Groups

These new films can make great showings for Emory's environmental or sustainability student groups to watch together. Many of the films can inspire local projects. 

New Documentary Orders

Documentaries are purchased year round. Suggestions and requests are welcomed. 

Unless otherwise requested by faculty, the following criteria are used in developing the documentary collection:

  • appropriate for classroom use
  • award-winning
  • provides various perspectives and opinions; limited bias
  • includes public viewing rights

Can't Find What you Need?

The subject lists are not exhaustive and do not reflect all of the documentaries the Emory Libraries own. Related films purchased for anthropology, women studies, African Studies, and history are not included. Suggestions to locate a film:

  1. Search DiscoverE by documentary title
  2. Contact a librarian for assistance locating films on your topic.
  3. Contact your librarian to request he/she to purchase films/documentaries

Can We Watch Online?

Yes, we do have online documentaries. You can explore Kanopy for more or you can request a purchase.

Faculty can use the streaming video as homework assignments for students. Streaming video is best used outside of the classroom. 

Streaming video can NOT be used for public film showings. If you are planning a film series, please contact your librarian about purchasing a DVD with public performance rights. 

The library is prohibited from using personal subscription services, such as Netflix, Hulu, iTunes, and Amazon.
