CHEM 597R - The Scientific Paper and Peer Review: Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewer Responsibilities

Reviewers are responsible for reading carefully and critically the entire manuscript they have been given to review.  Their reviews are expected to be thorough and unbiased and returned without delay.  Reviewers generally are anonymous but since papers in this class will be reviewed only by others in the class it will be difficult to keep reviewers and authors unknown to one another.  However, confidentiality and courtesy is expected in this process.  Referees should not keep copies of the papers they are sent for review and content from another persons paper should not be used without permission.  Discussion among reviewers and authors in this course should always remain supportive and helpful.
