Tips to make your life better

  1. Get to know your subject librarian. They can help you find materials related to your research topic. They can buy you things. They can help you understand which databases (we have hundreds!) you might want to use.

  2. Get to know discoverE, which searches our catalog and digital collections.

  3. Start building a personal reference library. The library offers workshops on Zotero and EndNote and has research guides for both Zotero and Endnote.

  4. Regularly read about larger issues facing academia in publications like The Chronicle of Higher Ed, Inside Higher Ed, ProfHacker.

  5. Read not only journals but also the blogs in your field.

  6. Use the Library's subscription to Lynda.com (available in the MediaLab within Woodruff and on designated workstations in the Health Sciences Library) to get free, in-depth training on software like Excel, Photoshop, AutoCAD, and SPSS.
