This e-only issue of ISS is loaded with content, particularly focusing on electronic information developments here at Emory and beyond.

Tab 1, Scholarly Communications, includes the very recent news of  Emory's approval of an Open Access policy.  Attorney Lisa Macklin, Director of Library's Information Property Rights Office reviews this important step.

Tab 2 features numerous new social science electronic resources purchased since the last issue. There is something for everyone. Also check out new useful library research guides at Tab 8.

Building Updates (Tab 3) previews several planned new library spaces, including the Research Commons (Level 3) to support faculty partnerships with library/technology. Portions of this project are supported by a new $695,000 grant from the McArthur Foundation.  

E-Books are here and more are coming but there are many differences between academic and trade e-publications. Get a rundown of the ins and outs of academic e-books in Tab 4.

QR codes have made it out of stores and into the library. Find out more in Tab 5.

If you intend to apply for an NSF grant, there are important new requirements reviewed in Tab 6.

In light of the ongoing disasters in Japan, the new library exhibit "All Americans Will Pull Together: The Evolving Role of the Federal Government in Dealing with Disaster" is especially timely. Tab 7
