Read the NYTimes online with an Academic Pass.

Academic Passes:

  • allow 24 hour access from any device
  • are available to Emory students, faculty, and staff ONLY
  • are available from any location
  • require a valid address

To register your email address:

  • Go to Academic Passes.
  • Enter your Emory University email address.
  • Create a new password (do not use your Emory University password).
  • NYT will send an email validation. Access the site using the link sent in the NYT email.

NOTE:  If you do not receive a NYT email within 15 minutes, check your Emory Office 365 junk email folder for the NYT confirmation email.

NYTimes on Mobile Devices

The Academic Pass works with The New York Times app for the following devices:

  • iPhone & iPod
  • Android
  • Blackberry
  • Kindle Fire
  • Windows 8
  • Windows Phone

To download the NYTimes app, go to the New York Times Mobile apps site and select the app for one of the devices listed above.  Next, download the app from the appropriate online store. Open the NYTimes app on your device and select the Login option. This will give you Academic Pass access to The New York Times; note that the mobile NYT content and format is somewhat abbreviated.

Academic Pass subscription does not work with The New York Times app for iPad; however, you may use an Academic Pass to read The New York Times via the iPad browser.

Limited access to 1923-1980, 5 free articles / 24 hours
