Searching for Political Science Films

It is a bit tricky to locate political science visual materials in EUCLID for political science, as these materials are housed separately in the MUSIC & MEDIA library from the general collection in the STACKS and are not given traditional call numbers. A few broad searches for films are located below. You may just click on these and receive a list of titles/records from EUCLID. The list is certainly not comprehensive.

The MUSIC & MEDIA library has also created a general guide for locating films that you should definitely check out.

A basic strategy for locating films on a specific topic or geographic area is to do the following.

  1. From EUCLID, choose "complex search"
  2. Type in your search term in one of the search boxes towards the top of the page.
  3. Under "library" choose "general" (or choose "MUSIC AND MEDIA" under location).
  4. You could also choose "DVD" or "VHS" under the format dropdown menu, but you can not search them together.

Several other options are:

  • For films in any format (VHS, DVD, etc.), use Format: VISUAL MATERIALS.
  • To restrict your search to specific video formats, use Item Type: DVD, DVD-LEND, VIDEOCASS, FILM).
  • To find only items in Heilbrun, Woodruff, and Chemistry Libraries, use Library: GENERAL.
  • To find videos containing a specific language, use the Language limit . (Note that you may retrieve some DVDs that have an optional, added sound track in your specified language, which is not part of the original film.)

Film Vendors of Interest

There are a number of vendors and distributors of films for political science, and the social sciences, more broadly.  However, some titles may only be available via the director or producer.
